New 'Prevention From Falls' regulations (May 2004) effectively rule out the servicing of cooling towers from ladders if more than 2.0m high.

The high risk and consequences of falls from cooling towers can be controlled through the use of catwalks, platforms and handrailing around the top of the cooling tower itself.

We design and install the Juralco 'Guardsafe' system of aluminium catwalks to the side(s) of cooling towers which enables access to filters and fan motors. Catwalks are fully handrailed with safety chains across ladder openings and larger cooling towers may be handrailed on the perimeter to allow safe access to the top.

AC units suspended internally, typically between a suspended ceiling and roof, provide a challege for carrying out maintenance safely and within occupational health & safety requirements.

Our solution is to provide catwalks and platforms alongside these units with stable and secure ladder access onto Juralco "Guardsafe' aluminium platforms. Platforms are fully handrailed with safety chains across openings, fitted kickboards, and are supplied with made to fit scaffold ladders which hook securely over the platform edge.
